His Holiness Living Buddha Lian Sheng (Grandmaster Sheng-Yen Lu) received a special visit from two honorable guests — Aisha Imam, the executive director and founder of the Reed Society for the Sacred Arts, and Jane Fatima Casewit from Morocco, a writer, translator, and educator, particularly on Sufism.
Aisha and Jane are the great friends and confreres of Demi, the award-winning artist and author of over 300 children’s books and a long-time disciple of His Holiness. Together they hosted the Mawlid Celebration at the National Museum of Asian Art — Smithsonian’s Freer and Sackler Galleries — last October.
On this Sunday, March 3, 2024, Grandmaster Lu warmly welcomed his guests, exchanged greetings, bestowed blessings and copies of his paintings and calligraphies to the remarkable ladies. Being lovers of sacred arts and avid readers, they naturally formed a divine connection.
The two distinguished guests with Demi, enjoyed the enlightening and humorous conversation with Grandmaster Lu. Grandmaster talked about awakening — understanding the nature of life, that nothing really belongs to you as everything is ever-changing. He also talked about the importance of having faith, be it Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, or others, by following the footsteps of the sages, one will be awakened and ultimately return to the same origin.
This joyous occasion brings much hope for the changing world. We wish to spread more love, kindness, compassion, joy, equanimity, and goodwill for humanity.
2024 年 3 月 3 日，兩位特別貴賓遠道而來拜訪聖尊 蓮生活佛 : 一位是「莉德神聖藝術協會」的執行董事兼創始人「艾莎·伊瑪目」和來自摩洛哥的作家、翻譯家及教育家 (特別是在蘇非教方面)「珍妮·法蒂瑪·卡塞維特」。艾莎和珍妮是黛咪 (蓮生活佛老弟子法號蓮姿) 的好友，黛咪也是一位獲獎的藝術家和童書作者，作品超過 300 本。去年十月，他們一起在國家亞洲藝術博物館 —— 史密森尼安的弗里爾和薩克勒畫廊 —— 主持了 Mawlid 慶祝活動。
聖尊熱情歡迎這兩位訪客，雙方交流問候，同時贈送自己的複製畫作及書法給訪客作為禮物。身為宗教藝術的愛好者和熱心讀者，兩位訪客覺得與聖尊很投緣，並領受了聖尊的開示「無所得，無常，慈悲喜捨」等具有啟發性和幽默的心靈分享。聖尊還談到了擁有信仰的重要性，無論是基督教、伊斯蘭教、佛教或其他宗教，其實先上天堂也是很好的，只要醒悟了，畢竟最終都是擁有光明，回歸本然。這是一場難得殊勝跨越國界、超越宗教的一段身心靈提升文化藝術的互訪。
